Andrew's last day of school was on Friday May 28th. Boy this year sure flew by. He has had the best teacher this year. She was so patient and loving to him. The leaps and bounds he has made since the first day of school are just truly amazing to me. He is such a good little reader and almost every time we are in the car driving anywhere he is constantly asking me math problems or what signs say. For example, "Mom what is 5+2, or what is 7-3, or what do the letters on that sign spell" You get the idea. Instead of just telling him the answers though, I ask him the same questions back and more often than not he figures it out. He is really good at "stretching words"(This is what his teacher calls it). This is when he sounds out each letter in a word individually and then puts them together to make the word. He can do it with both short and long words. It might seem as though I am bragging, and I guess I am, but it is because he has really amazed me at what he has learned and how quickly he has learned those things. I must say it is so much fun to see "the light go on" or watch him catch on to something he has been struggling at learning. On the last day of school Andrew got to meet his teacher for next year and when I picked him up that day he told me how nice she was and that when you work real hard in class, she gives you a gum ball. If you ask me, I don't know if he is more excited about going to 1st grade or the gumballs he will be earning. On the Monday following the last day of school he asked me "Mom do I start 1st grade today?" It was so cute to see him wanting to go back to school already. (I guess I had better enjoy those years because soon I will be dragging him to school, or he will be complaning that it is already time for the new school year to start, or that summer wasn't long enough.) I am really excited to see what next year will bring and also a little bit sad that the days of being able to go do fun things together during the school day after I pick him up, are ofically over. Good job buddy on such a fantastic Kindergarten year!! Keep up the good work.

Andrew's 6th Birthday
I can't hardly believe Andrew is 6. He turned 6 on May 18th. So for Andrew's birthday we had another BBQ with friends and family. Yes, I have since determined that it would have been a better idea to plan one combined BBQ for both their birthdays and just do it right in between the dates. That is a little lesson I learned that I will be put to good use for future years. Anyways, it was fun to have lots of friends and family there. We ate burgers, hot dogs, salads, and all sorts of other good things. As in past years Andrew said he wanted doughnuts instead of a cake so that was easy to do. I put a birthday candle on the doughnut he picked out and that was his cake. He got to have a race car pinata, which he picked out himself. It turned out to be a fun and great day. Happy Birthday Little man. Dad and Mom love you so much and are so proud of you and who you have become. Each day brings new and fun things I learn about you. Thanks for letting me be your mom.

What am I gonna do with this kid?
Andrew has been doing really well in school this year, but has had some problems with paying attention in class. His teacher says he sometimes seems to be off in his own little world. (I have no idea where he gets that from) His saving grace this year is that his teacher is fantastic and has alot of patience. So with a reward system in place and frequent updates from his teacher things have steadily gotten better, that is till April hit. He kind of slipped back into his old ways and even a little worse. In facet one day at school some of the boys were making fun of him and telling him he wasn't very tough so he decided to prove he was tough and punched one of the little boys in his class in the face. I guess he showed them. Well his teacher talked to him, we talked to him and he lost recess for the rest of the week, but after that things have seemed to be slowly getting better again. Who knew my kid would end up being the bully. So the end of the school year is here and I really am so grateful to Andrew's teacher for helping him fulfill the potential she saw in him from day one. His graduation certificate said he was the best worker, but had the most fun doing it. The last day of school he got to meet his 1st grade teacher and he told me she is very nice. He can't wait to start 1st grade. Way to go Andrew!!!

Andrew's 2009
Andrew didn't have a lot of firsts in 2009, but still had a lot of new stuff happen. In the beginning of May he got to go to Kindergarten round-up at the elementary school and meet his teacher. I think that was one of his best days then in late May he graduated from preschool and was sooooo excited to start kindergarten that I think I must have heard at least 100 times that summer " Mom is tomorrow the first day of Kindergarten. We had a fun filled summer of movie Tuesdays, Play time at the parks, fishing with dad, camping out in the backyard, fun time with cousins and so much more. At the end of August he finally got to start kindergarten and he loves every minute of it. There have been very few days I have had to drag him out of bed to get to school on time. Another new thing that happened in 2009 is he lost his first two teeth. That was an interesting experience to say the least. The only way he would let Jeremy pull them was by tying dental floss to his tooth and to the door knob and then letting him slam the door. I say that was the hard way, but what do I know I'm just the mom. I just can't believe what a little man he is turning into. Some days I get a little sad at how fast time is moving by, but I know that we have so many more great memories ahead of us.

Finally a haircut!!!
Well I finally convinced Andrew that he desperately needed a haircut, so I set him up a seat on the back porch and took care of it. He didn't do much fussing and was very good to sit pretty still. His reward for being so good was I let him put his temporary tattoo on his arm. He had got it a few days earlier at the store and had been bugging me to put it on him, so I gave in and let him put it where he wanted it. So he picked the inside of his forearm. Nice I know!!!
